Following Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s final World Championship event on Sunday, American sprinter Twanisha Terry shared a tribute to the sprint legend, reflecting on the profound impact Fraser-Pryce has had on her career.
In a post on X, Terry recalled growing up watching Fraser-Pryce’s races online before later finding herself competing alongside her on the international stage, an experience she described as a “dream turned reality”.
“Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce — what an incredible woman you are. Thank you for inspiring me, and countless others, for so many years,” Terry wrote. “Your presence has graced the track community with excellence, grace and longevity, leaving a mark that can never be erased.”
She also expressed gratitude for a personal moment shared with Fraser-Pryce after a recent award ceremony.
“It might have seemed like a small gesture, but to me, it meant the world. Your words will stay with me, and I will carry them forward on my own journey,” Terry added.
Terry was a part of the United States women’s 4×100 m relay team that won the gold medal during the final, where Fraser-Pryce signed off her outstanding career.
