Minott rolls out free mammogram for staff
...in honour of employee who lost fight against breast cancer
MINOTT Equipment & Chemical is offering its female employees over the age of 35 the opportunity to undergo free mammograms at the Women’s Imaging Centre at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI).
This is part of the company’s recognition of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in memory of a long-serving employee, Tashana Rhooms-Hart, who died in June after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Rhooms-Hart, who was 36 years old at the time of her death, had been with Minott for 17 years, having started her journey as a telesales agent when only 19. She later transitioned to a sales consultant position and is remembered for her dedication, warmth, and commitment to the company.
“In honour of our dear colleague, Tashana, who lost her life to breast cancer, we are encouraging our female team members to prioritise their health by undergoing regular breast check-ups. We hope this initiative will not only honour Tashana’s memory but also bring awareness to the importance of early detection and prevention of breast cancer,” said Mileydi Minott, CEO and director of the company,
She noted that the Women’s Imaging Centre at UHWI offers state-of-the-art mammography services, with advanced Hologic systems that provide three-dimensional mammogram imaging.
This cutting edge technology ensures high-resolution images for a gentler, more comfortable experience compared to traditional mammograms, giving women a more reassuring check-up.
According to the CEO, Minott Equipment & Chemical has always been committed to the well-being of its employees, “and this initiative reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to support their health and wellness. The company encourages all women to take proactive steps in managing their health, including regular mammograms and breast exams, to ensure early detection of potential health concerns”.
