Racing fraternity shaken by sudden passing of Oneil Mullings
Veteran jockey Oneil Mullings was tragically shot and killed on Sunday night, September 21, 2025, in the Waterhouse area.
He was 49 years old and had been a prominent figure in Jamaica’s racing community. His death has sent shockwaves through the sport to which he devoted his life.
Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL), promoters of horse racing in Jamaica, expressed sadness on his passing.
“(SVREL), operators of Caymanas Park, are shocked and saddened by the sudden and tragic passing of jockey Oneil Mullings.
“Mullings, who began his riding career in 2002, was a veteran of the sport with 415 career wins. His dedication and skill in the saddle made him a respected figure among his peers and in Jamaica’s racing community.
“We express our deepest sympathies to his family, colleagues in the racing fraternity and loved ones.
“May his soul rest in peace.”
