JRC pays tribute to jockey Oneil Mullings
The Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC) has paid tribute to the life and career of jockey Oneil Mullings, who tragically lost his life on Sunday, September 21, 2025. With a remarkable 23-year career marked by dedication, skill, and passion, Mullings left an indelible mark on the Jamaican horse-racing industry.
The following is the Jamaica Racing Commission’s tribute:
“Oneil Ricardo Mullings began his riding career in July 1996, when he was licensed by the Jamaica Racing Commission as an exercise rider at age 19. He later advanced through the Jockeys Training Program in 2002 and became a fully licensed jockey in 2005.
“Mullings secured his first win in 2002 aboard Papparazzi and earned his final victory aboard Generational on July 19, 2025. Over his 23-year career, he amassed 416 wins, including his milestone 400th victory aboard
Princess Akilah in 2024.
“Known for his dedication, skill, and passion, Mullings gained respect from fellow jockeys and supporters alike. Jockey Mullings was a legendary figure in the Jamaica horse-racing industry and his memories will live on through the countless lives he impacted.
“The Jamaica Racing Commission wishes to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of jockey Mullings.
“Rest in peace, Champion.”
