Murder suspect arrested, submachine gun seized in St Ann operations
ST ANN, Jamaica – A person of interest in an ongoing murder investigation was arrested, and a sub-machine gun, along with dozens of rounds of ammunition seized during two operations in St Ann on Friday, police say.
The person of interest was one of six people held during the first operation in Bamboo, St Ann about 7:00 am.
A man who was wanted on an outstanding civil court warrant was also arrested, along with another man who was arrested for breaches of the Dangerous Drug Act. Three women were also taken into custody for processing.
About 2:00 pm that same day, the Specialised Operations Branch collaborated with their St Ann colleagues for a second operation in Green Acres, Mammee Bay, where three premises were searched.
A Kel-Tec submachine gun, which was fitted with a magazine containing sixteen 9mm rounds of ammunition, was found at the rear of one of the premises. One Glock magazine with twelve 9mm rounds of ammunition and eleven 5.56 rounds of ammunition was also seized.
Two people were arrested in connection with the find. However, their identities are being withheld by the police.
