I Dream Again to face talented runners in Typewriter Trophy
I Dream Again, this year’s Jamaica Derby and St Leger winner, is set to step out to face a formidable group of horses in this afternoon’s running of the $1.25-million Typewriter Trophy feature at Caymanas Park.
This outing is crucial, especially with the prestigious Mouttet Mile invitational race looming in December. All eyes will be on how I Dream Again handles this strong field.
Having secured automatic entry to the US$300,000 Mouttet Mile thanks to his Jamaica Derby victory,
I Dream Again’s performance here will be closely watched. He’s going up against talented runners, including stablemate Intrestntimesahead, American-bred Unspun, and Neo Star.
His preparation coming into this race following his back-to-back Classic win is nothing much to write home about. Nonetheless, his preparation looks balanced enough to turn in a performance of sufficient quality that could see I Dream Again unsaddled in the winner’s enclosure.
He worked six furlongs (1,200m) on September 21 in 1:16.4, enough to suggest that he is in good spirits. With Robert Halledeen remaining in the saddle for trainer Jason DaCosta, expectations are certainly high.
The Overnight Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over seven and a half furlongs (1,500m) is positioned as the ninth and final race on the card with a post time of 5:15 pm. First race is at 12:00 pm.
Intrestntimesahead is definitely a horse to watch in the Typewriter Trophy despite his inconsistent form lately, including two consecutive disappointing outings. But with seasoned jockey Shane Ellis aboard, he’s coming into this race with renewed expectations.
Unspun looks like a strong bet also, having stepped down from Open Allowance company to finish second behind Mojito at this level on September 14. Reyan Lewis is in the saddle for trainer Alford Brown.
Unspun’s last win was impressive, a 1:13.0 clocking over six furlongs on May 3.
Neo Star has got capability, but inconsistency might be a hurdle. Champion jockey Raddesh Roman is riding for trainer Anthony Nunes, and time will tell how Neo Star shows up.
