Waterhouse beat Chapelton in JPL
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Waterhouse FC snapped a two-game skid as they ran out 3-0 winners over 10-man Chapelton Maroons in their Jamaica Premier League first round game played at Drewsland stadium on Monday.
It was Waterhouse FC’s third win and took them to nine points, moving up to fifth place as they managed to hold on to a first-half lead after giving up leads in the previous two games, which ended in losses.
Chapelton Maroons played the final minute of regulation and six minutes of time added with 10 players after goalkeeper Prince-Daniel Smith was sent off after he was shown a second yellow card for going into the stands in an interaction with a fan.
It was the third straight game that Chapelton Maroons had failed to win, picking up one point in the process after they started the season with three straight victories.
Mario Simms gave Waterhouse the lead in the 15th minute, firing into the far left corner of the goal after he was picked out by a defence splitting pass from Denardo Thomas.
Kenly Deacon wrapped up the points when he scored in the 85th minute, slotting the ball between Smith’s legs from about three yards out.
Waterhouse FC were gifted a third when Omani Leacock was upended inside the box by Kevin Graham and got up and scored past stand-in custodian Andrew Vanzie, who took the gloves after Smith’s dismissal.
In the first game of the double header, Portmore United and Molynes United played out a 0-0 draw in a game where Molynes’ Jason Wright had a penalty kick saved by goalkeeper Daniel Russell in the first half.
