Meant To Be

Jamaican Kelliann Ellis and Canadian Kyle Jansen found their connection online and knew instantly that it was something special. Their digital match blossomed into a beautiful romance that led to a wedding at Cecile’s Garden and Wedding Centre in Runaway Bay, St Ann, on July 26, 2025.

Their story began in May 2023 when they were matched on the dating app Hinge. From Kyle’s initial direct message and their conversations thereafter, Kelliann was drawn to him. Their mutual attraction was undeniable from the moment they met in person on June 9. “I found him to be so genuine,” Kelliann told Tuesday Style Vows (TSV). “He had the kindest eyes I’ve ever seen, and of course, he was handsome! Once we got to know each other, we knew we didn’t want to go our separate ways.”

Their relationship began almost instantly, and with every conversation, they grew more certain that they had found their perfect match. Two years into their journey, Kyle surprised Kelliann with a romantic proposal.

“He recreated our first date where we went to one of our favourite restaurants. Then we ended up at a winery where his friend works, to participate in a special tasting of some of the new wines that would be released that summer,” Kelliann recalled. “Kyle has this thing for geography and being able to know where we are by just pointing to a set of homes on a mountain. So he did that and I turned around, trying to identify where he was pointing to. As I turned around he was already on one knee and immediately I started to bawl tears of happiness.”

Months later, with the help of wedding planner Veneita Tarrant and the Cecille’s Garden and Wedding Centre team, the venue was transformed into an elegant oasis. Kelliann, escorted by her father Vincent Ellis, wore a lace sweetheart-neckline mermaid gown to meet her bridegroom who was sharp in a black suit.

Reverend Dr Winston Carter and Bishop Joseph DaCosta officiated the ceremony, cementing the couple’s forever in front of their loved ones.

The celebrations continued at the reception, where the couple was showered with heartfelt and humorous toasts. Following dinner, the newly-weds cut the three-tiered vanilla and coconut cake by Cecille’s Garden and Wedding Centre before opening the dance floor to Coldplay’s Yellow. The moment was a perfect end to a memorable day and the start of their new chapter together.

Kelliann and Kyle honeymooned in Banff, Alberta, Canada.
