Mt Pleasant into semis of Concacaf Caribbean Cup
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Mt Pleasant FA stormed into the semi-finals of the Concacaf Caribbean Cup after beating Universidad O&M FC 2-0 at the National Stadium in Kingston to top Group A with the maximum 12 points.
The former Jamaican champions did not concede a goal in their four games while scoring seven times to finish ahead of the Dominican Republic’s O&M FC.
O&M finished with six points, ahead of SV Robinhood of Suriname and Central FC of Trinidad and Tobago on four points and Moca FC at the foot of the table on three points.
Gadail Irving and Ranaldo Biggs scored in either half for the Theodore Whitmore-coached team, who were getting past the first round for the first time.
Irving’s well-struck free kick in the 36th minute gave O&M FC’s goalkeeper Iraitz Gelbentzu no chance, and Biggs was set up in the 63rd minute by Raheem Edwards.
