Shoreline rescue: Volunteers rally at Petrojam’s beach clean-up activity
IT was all hands on deck as 105 volunteers took on piles of marine litter at Petrojam’s annual International Coastal Clean-up Day activity at the area known as No Man’s Land, near Greenwich Town in the Corporate Area on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
Dubbed ‘Don’t Trash the Seas’, the activity saw the army of volunteers determined to turn the tide on marine litter, and they did.
More than 5,000 pounds of litter was removed — beating the 2024 total of 3,950 pounds.
Volunteers included Petrojam staff, and representatives of the Lions Club of New Kingston, Greenwich Town Fishing Village, Greenwich Primary School, St Andrew Primary, St Andrew Technical High School, Tivoli Gardens High School, Wolmer’s Boys’ School, and Petrojam scholarship recipients.
