Statin delays release of 2022 census results to October 15
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Statistical Institute of Jamaica (Statin) has postponed the release of its preliminary 2022 Population and Housing Census results by two weeks, moving the publication date to October 15.
The results, which were originally scheduled for release on Tuesday, will now be unveiled on the same day as the Caribbean Community’s (Caricom) Statistics Day, a regional event highlighting the role of data in policy and development.
The new date will also mark the return of Statin’s Quarterly Press Briefings, an initiative the institute said is aimed at improving public engagement, transparency and dialogue with stakeholders.
The census findings are highly anticipated as they are expected to guide national planning, resource allocation and development strategies in the nation for the coming years.
Statin is the primary source of official economic, social, demographic and environmental data for Jamaica.
