Cavalier SC out of Concacaf Caribbean Cup
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Cavalier SC’s run as Concacaf Caribbean Cup champions ended on Wednesday after they were beaten by Weymouth Wales FC of Barbados in the Group B game played in Bridgetown, Barbados.
Weymouth Wales FC beat Cavalier 2-1.
Cavalier SC, who contested the previous two finals, finished fourth in the group on five points, winning just once in the group stages.
They wasted several good scoring chances as they went into the game needing to win to stay in the competition.
Weymouth Wales, newcomers to this level of football, just missed advancing to the semi-finals on goal difference as they finished tied with the Defence Force of Trinidad and Tobago.
The Trinidadian team beat Cibao FC 2-0 in their game to finish behind the team from the Dominican Republic, who finished top of the table on nine points, despite the loss.
Armando Lashley gave Weymouth Wales the lead after 10 minutes, but Daryl Massicot equalised for Cavalier SC in the 13th minute.
Rommel Bynoe, who was a second-half substitute in the 58th minute, headed in a corner at the far left post in time added on to give the Bajan team a hard-earned win.
