Man charged after $147,000 theft incident
KINGSTON, Jamaica – A Kingston man has been charged with receiving stolen property after he allegedly took possession of a bag containing $147,000 that had been stolen from a shop.
The accused, Fredrick Wizzard, appeared before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday where he denied the allegations, declaring, “untruth them telling.”
Reports are that the bag with the money was discovered by a witness following the theft. The witness allegedly handed it over to Wizzard, who is said to have promised to return it to the rightful owner. However, the funds were never delivered.
Wizzard was subsequently arrested and charged. He was offered bail with conditions that require him to report to the Lawrence Tavern Police Station three times per week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
The matter has been set for trial on November 27.
