PNP mourns the passing of Parish Court Judge Ruth Lawrence
KINGSTON, Jamaica—The People’s National Party (PNP) says it is deeply saddened by the passing of Trelawny Parish Court Judge Ruth Lawrence.
Opposition Spokesperson on Justice, Zuleika Jess, was quoted as saying in a statement by the PNP on Wednesday, “Judge Lawrence’s passing is a great loss to Jamaica. She was a dedicated servant of justice whose integrity and compassion left an indelible mark on the legal profession. I extend my sincere condolences to her family, friends, judicial colleagues, the wider legal fraternity and all who mourn her passing. Her life’s work will long be remembered as a standard of fairness and equity in the pursuit of justice.”
The PNP said Lawrence gave extensive and exemplary service to Jamaica’s justice system, serving with distinction until the time of her passing.
“Her distinguished career in public service was marked by an unwavering commitment to justice and a deep respect for the rights of all individuals. She earned the admiration of her colleagues and the gratitude of those she served. Her work reflected the highest ideals of fairness and equity, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations of legal practitioners and public servants across Jamaica,” the party added.
Lawrence was pronounced dead Tuesday evening at the Falmouth Public General Hospital.
