Imagine love
Dear Editor,
A love that endures between a man and a woman has to be more than romantic attraction for true love is all-encompassing. It is the medicine needed for good mental and physical health as well as a stable society.
But, unfortunately, it is the light that remains hidden in the light. When, for instance, a love endures throughout a marriage, or any other relationship, it has to be based on principle. Yet such principles do not rob true love of its warmth and affection.
The Bible, for instance, says that love is patient and kind. What if patience and kindness could become a rule that governs human behaviour?
The Bible goes on to to say that love is not jealous, it does not brag, and does not get puffed up. Thus, for people to shun jealousy and braggadocio, it is not just to do with principle but involves an internal reconstruction. The scriptures also goes on to point out that love does not look for its own interests, does not become provoked, and does not keep account of injuries. There can be no better perception against reprisal killings and a blood-for-blood scenario that is so familiar.
Imagine a world in which love is not just romance between a man and a woman but a humanity that runs by its principles.
