Passenger charged with robbing driver of iPhone and cash
ST MARY, Jamaica — A 21-year-old man who is accused of robbing a driver of his Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max and $22,000 in cash on Stennett Street in Port Maria, St Mary has been charged with robbery with aggravation.
He has been identified as Javaine Jones of Brown’s Street in Baileys Vale in the parish.
Reports from the Port Maria police are that on Sunday, September 21, about 7:20 pm, the complainant was transporting Jones home. Upon reaching a section of the roadway, Jones reportedly asked for a stop and then pulled a ratchet knife, placed it at the man’s throat and robbed him of his Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max valued at $130,000, along with $22,000 in cash.
Jones then exited the vehicle and escaped.
A report was made to the police, and an investigation was launched. During the investigation, Jones was arrested. He was charged after he was interviewed in the presence of his attorney.
His court date has not been finalised.
