Amad Ali provides maiden win for Nicardo Carr
Nicardo Carr’s moment of triumph arrived on Saturday, September 27, 2025, when he guided
Amad Ali to a thrilling first career victory at Caymanas Park.
The young jockey’s patience, confidence, and hard work paid off in the opening event, a three-year-old and upward Optional Claiming ($350,000-$250,000) call at the sprint trip of 6 furlongs (1,200m).
Conditioned by Randolph Scott, Amad Ali and under Carr’s guidance edged Casual Peach (ridden by Richie Shakes) by a razor-thin margin of a head. The clock ticked 1:19.1 for the dash with the split times reading 24.4, 50.3, and 1:04.2.
“I am very happy and I am very proud to win my first race. I have been riding for two years now and I am really grateful for this, my first win,” Carr expressed in his interview with The Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.
Carr’s appreciation flowed freely as he singled out owners, trainers, fellow jockeys, grooms, family members, friends, and fans for their steadfast support.
“I must thank all owners, trainers, fellow riders, grooms, my family members and friends as well as my fans for the support. I am grateful,” he said.
Speaking about Amad Ali, Carr revealed quiet assurance: “I was very confident in victory today. I knew that my horse would get up in time for the win. I just kept my composure, worked hard and got the job done,” he shared.
Looking to the future, Nicardo Carr said: “One can expect a lot more winners from me. This is the first one, and so you can look for many, many more.”
