Bailey expected to remain sidelined until after international break – reports
Jamaican winger Leon Bailey, who was injured just hours into his first practice session with Serie A club AS Roma in August, is expected to remain sidelined until after the upcoming international break, according to Italian media reports.
It means the 28-year-old is likely to miss Jamaica’s next two games in the final round of Concacaf World Cup qualifying against Curaçao on October 10 and Bermuda on October 14.
The squad for those games will be announced on Saturday morning by head coach Steve McClaren.
Jamaica remain sole leaders of Group B with six points, which means they are in pole position to qualify for the World Cup since only the group winner goes through automatically. They have a two-point advantage over second-placed Curaçao.
Trinidad and Tobago sit third in the group with one point while Bermuda are pointless at the bottom.
Bailey joined Roma on a season-long loan from Aston Villa during the last transfer window. His arrival was met by much fanfare but supporters have been left frustrated as his recovery from injury – details of which have not been made public – has taken longer than anticipated.
