British teen dies in car crash 3 months after being freed from Dubai prison
A British teenager who was pardoned by the leader of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after he was jailed in Dubai for having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old has been killed in a car crash.
He is 19-year-old Marcus Fakana.
According to a Sky News report, Fakana died in hospital early Friday following a police pursuit in Tottenham, north London. He was a passenger in the car, the report said.
Just three months ago, Fakana had been serving a one year prison sentence for having sex with a 17-year-old girl in the UAE where the age of consent is 18. He had only been released from prison after he received a pardon from the country’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
He had served six months in prison before he was granted the pardon, after which he immediately returned to his home in Tottenham, north London.
