PNP’s Jackson condemns Linstead mass shooting
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica —Opposition Spokesperson on National Security, Fitz Jackson has condemned the deadly mass shooting in Commodore district of Linstead, St Catherine that claimed the lives of five people and left several others injured.
In a statement on Monday, Jackson extended condolences to the victims’ families and the community, describing the incident as a tragic reminder of Jamaica’s ongoing struggle with violent crime.
“I extend heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of those whose lives were so cruelly taken. The continued slaughter of Jamaicans is a grim reminder that our nation remains far from securing true safety for its people. I pray that the families and community will find the strength to endure this terrible pain,” he said.
Jackson commended the police for their swift response to the incident but urged them to intensify their efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“I call on the police to leave no stone unturned in tracking down those responsible. I also appeal to anyone with information to come forward and assist the authorities,” he added.
Member of Parliament for North Central St. Catherine, Natalie Neita Garvey, also expressed sorrow over the attack, offering sympathy to the affected families and community members.
“This is a dark day for the people of Commodore. My deepest sympathies go out to the grieving families and all those traumatised by this act of violence. We must stand together and work with the police to rid our communities of crime and bloodshed,” Neita Garvey said.
The Opposition reiterated its call for urgent, effective, and sustained action to tackle violent crime and restore a sense of security across Jamaica.
