From Jamaica to Italy: A Fairy-tale Wedding on Lake Garda

From Jamaica to Italy: A Fairy-tale Wedding on Lake Garda

Royanne DeSilva, managing director of Dream Aloud Travels and Miss Jamaica World 2015 1st runner-up, has tied the knot with Luca Campolunghi, Italian real estate investor, in a wedding that beautifully blended Caribbean warmth with Italian elegance.

The couple’s love story began in Qatar, where their paths first crossed. Their bond deepened over time, strengthened by visits to each other’s homelands. Royanne introduced Luca to the vibrant culture of Jamaica, and Luca welcomed her to the traditions of Italy. Those journeys laid the foundation for the next chapter of their lives together.

A Historic Church Ceremony

On June 28, 2025, the pair exchanged vows at the 17th-century Church of San Michele Arcangelo, a historic gem nestled in the hills above Toscolano Maderno with sweeping views of Lake Garda. Guests from Jamaica and Italy gathered to witness the union, following a series of pre-wedding celebrations that included wine tastings at a vineyard and gondola rides through the romantic canals of Venice.

The meticulously curated wedding events were orchestrated by Dream Aloud Travels, a luxury travel concierge company known for crafting once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

Walking up the aisle on her father Delroy DeSilva’s arm, the bride was radiant in a satin gown with floral appliqué details by designer Pen Liv. The church resounded with a classic organ rendition of Felix Mendelssohn’s Wedding March, setting the scene for a timeless moment.

As the couple exited the church, guests showered them with rice in the ancient Roman tradition. Symbolising fertility and prosperity, the gesture underscored blessings of abundance and joy for their shared future.

An Elegant Reception at Villa Fenaroli

The celebration continued at Villa Fenaroli, a stately 15th-century manor in Rezzato. Once an aristocratic estate belonging to the Avogadro family and later transformed in the 18th century by the renowned Marchetti architects, the villa provided an enchanting backdrop for the reception.

The bride and groom made their grand entrance to Bob Marley’s Is This Love. Each table was thoughtfully named after a town from Italy or Jamaica; among them, May Pen held special meaning as the hometown where Royanne grew up.

Guests were treated to a seven-course plated dinner, interspersed with moving speeches from family and friends. One particularly sentimental tradition came when both mothers unveiled the wedding cake, in keeping with Jamaican custom.

In addition to the three-tiered berry chantilly dessert, a rich Jamaican fruitcake was lovingly baked by the bride’s mother, Dr Karen DeSilva, bringing a taste of home to Italy.

Music, Memories, and Magic

Their choreographed first dance, set to Everytime We Touch by Cascada, brought smiles from the room. Later, there was hardly a dry eye when Royanne and her father shared their emotional dance to Lee Ann Womack’s

I Hope You Dance, a moment that captured the depth of their relationship.

As the evening unfolded, Royanne slipped into a second gown; an elegant, backless design by Australian label Rat & Boa which was perfect for dancing. The newly-weds and their guests celebrated until night, savouring every note of music and every memory made.

A New Chapter Begins

Capping off the fairy-tale celebration, Mr and Mrs Luca Campolunghi embarked on a five-star honeymoon in Greece, once again planned by Dream Aloud Travels.

From Jamaica’s rhythms to Italy’s romance, Royanne and Luca’s wedding was more than a union of two people — it was a heartfelt merging of cultures, families, and traditions, woven seamlessly into one extraordinary day.
