Denham Town Golden Age Home gets green push
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Petrojam volunteers stepped out on National Tree Planting Day to celebrate community care and the gift of nature with seniors and staff at Denham Town Golden Age Home in Kingston.
With the help of the seniors, the team planted fruit trees and vibrant flowers across the property.
From the day’s activities, Petrojam says a hopeful canopy is taking root — promising shade, fruits and a tranquil space for therapy and reflection for the seniors.
“This activity aligns with our core value of protecting health, safety and the environment. It sits at the heart of everything we do. Today showed the power of teamwork and the spirit of volunteerism—when colleagues and community volunteers come together, we amplify care and create something beautiful and enduring for Denham Town,” said General Manager Telroy Morgan.
In welcoming the spruce-up activity, Keisha Chin-Scott, administrator of the home, was heartened by the gesture.
“Caring for our senior citizens means caring for the place they call home,” said Chin-Scott.
“This goes beyond planting; it’s about nurturing well-being and dignity. This is how we grow stronger communities together,” added Chin-Scott.
Close to 30 seniors are in residence at the state-run Denham Town Golden Age Home.
The home was established to provide residential care, meals and other welfare services for any adult in Kingston and St Andrew who may be partly or wholly destitute.
It caters to those without the means of subsistence because of age, infirmity, mental or physical disability, or any other circumstances, are unable to care for themselves.
