Star Quest gets up in time for Reggae 6 Anniversary Trophy win
Three-year-old bay colt Star Quest (Northern Giant – Thegirlnextdoor) unleashed a powerful run in the deep stretch to capture the $1.1-million Reggae 6 Anniversary Trophy over 6 furlongs (1,200m) at Caymanas Park on Saturday, October 11, 2025.
Competing in the Restricted Allowance II contest — pitting native-three-year-olds (non-winners of two) against imported three-year-olds and upward (maidens) — Star Quest saved his best for last as he up in the nick of time to edge ahead of I’m Outstanding (Reyan Lewis) and Hazelnut (Raddesh Roman) by a narrow half-length. The final time was 1:14.4 (23.2 x 48.2 x 1:01.1).
Star Quest wasn’t among the early frontrunners — at the off, he sat off the pace as T Swizzle (Shane Ellis), Hazelnut, and
I’m Outstanding (Reyan Lewis) blazed the early trail in that order.
Approaching the distance, the top three remained unchanged with Star Quest tracking in fourth. As the field turned for home, Star Quest loomed on the outside, but rider Eric Haughton made a bold tactical move — switching his mount to the inside rails and it was a masterstroke. Star Quest exploded with a dazzling burst of speed, getting up in the nick of time for the win.
