Wray & Nephew powers Jamaica football with major investments
Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum, Jamaica’s iconic spirit, continues to play a defining role in the development of local football through its long-standing partnership with the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) and the Reggae Boyz.
The collaboration represents far more than sponsorship; it is a shared mission to elevate the sport, empower communities, and strengthen Jamaica’s football ecosystem from the ground up.
“Football, like Wray & Nephew, is woven into the fabric of Jamaican life,” said Kerry-Ann Bryan, brand manager of Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum. “It’s about passion, resilience, and excellence, values that both our brand and the Reggae Boyz embody every time they take the field.”
From supporting the Wray & Nephew Jamaica Premier League and KSAFA competitions to backing the senior national team, Wray & Nephew has consistently invested in the growth and sustainability of Jamaican football. Most recently, the company demonstrated its commitment to holistic football development by supporting the relaunch of the Jamaica Football Federation’s Coaching Education Programme in June.
Wray & Nephew’s involvement signals a major step forward in the brand’s three-year programme to make Jamaica a global leader in the sport.
“This event serves as a precursor to the Wray & Nephew School of Football’s physical launch, which is part of our ongoing three-year programme to become a worldwide leader in the sport,” Bryan shared. “This is more than a sponsorship; it is a movement to strengthen our communities and celebrate the spirit of Jamaica through the beautiful game.”
Under this initiative, 500 Jamaican coaches will be trained and certified annually, from Concacaf D to A licences, ensuring that player development is supported by world-class coaching at every level, from community football to the national stage.
Wray & Nephew has also committed to infrastructure upgrades, including improvements to the Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence, as part of its ongoing development plan.
In another major investment, renovations of Arnett Gardens’ home ground is currently underway as part of a more than $50-million refurbishing project funded by Wray & Nephew. The upgrades are expected to be completed by the end of October, when the venue will be rebranded as the Wray & Nephew Anthony Spalding Sports Complex.
According to Simone Foster, brand experience manager at J Wray & Nephew Limited, who manages the project, the renovation forms part of the company’s Spirit of Football campaign.
“This complex is one of the best and busiest in the JPL. The improvements will not only enhance the matchday experience but also strengthen community engagement through sport,” Foster said.
Wray & Nephew will also be powering the half-time show on October 14 with a legendary performer, and fans can enjoy pre-match activities at the National Stadium leading up to kick-off. These experiences are designed to bring the community together and energise supporters in true spirit of football fashion.
With initiatives spanning player development, coaching education, facility upgrades, and fan engagement, Wray & Nephew continues to champion the growth of Jamaican football and the communities that sustain it.
“As proud partners of the JFF and the Reggae Boyz, we remain committed to the game that unites our island,” Bryan added. “Because football a fi wi culture and Wray Rum is the spirit of football.”
