Bring Colour Home at H&L Rapid True Value
The Jamaica Observer’s eighth iteration of #DesignWeekJa2025 wrapped Sunday, October 12, at the Hardware & Lumber (H&L) Rapid True Value location in Lane Plaza, Constant Spring Road. Moderated by master of ceremonies Talia Soares-Brown, the event featured an engaging presentation led by True Value Colour Specialist Dawn Garrett. Under the theme ‘Bring Colour Home’, Garrett shared practical insights into colour theory and psychology, covering topics like mood impact, proportion and scale, lighting, and strategies for selecting shades to brighten any living space. The presentation culminated with a reveal of the 2026 colour trends, focusing on a nature-inspired palette with warm undertones and discussing their potential impact on home design.
For an interactive finish, the audience voted for the colour of the year, with nature green winning by a majority.
Next, the Regency Blinds team shifted the focus from colour to window treatment as they presented on the theme ‘Frame Your View: Window Treatments for Every Space’. While Office Manager Angela Marr outlined the company’s evolution, starting with vertical blinds and later expanding its product line, Technical Sales Representative Robert Parsley demonstrated the key benefits of the company’s zebra shades. Marr closed the presentation by bringing the focus back to the colour trends for this year and the next, explaining Regency’s ability to provide blinds that perfectly complement a room’s intended colour scheme.
H&L Chief Category Officer Annelies Denny concluded proceedings, thanking key stakeholders and encouraging customers to continue collaborating with H&L to transform their insights into actual dream spaces. Afterwards, customers applied their new knowledge at interactive stations, including the opportunity to sample and experiment with EasyCare Premium paint colours at the paint station.
