Domino boss proclaims seniors are the ‘bark’ of society
Humbert Davis, president of the National Association of Domino Bodies (NADB), continued to express his admiration for the strong turnout and unity of senior citizens at the domino tournament.
The St Catherine leg of the competition saw a significant presence of seniors, especially men, all competing for the top prize. The event, sponsored by NADB and the National Council for Senior Citizens (NCSC), took place at the St Joseph Catholic Church in Spanish Town on Thursday, October 2.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we are not old. We are barks,” Davis said.
He went on to elaborate on his metaphor.
“The bark of the tree controls the trunk, the trunk of the tree controls the branches, the branches control the leaves, the leaves control the fruits, and the fruit controls the seed. This is all about entry and exit,” he said.
Davis continued, emphasising the parallels with human growth.
“It is about care and share and is the same thing that is applied to a baby growing up, they creep, walk, talk, and that’s the same thing that apply to us because we are the bark and we have all the information lies, nobody have information like the bark,” he explained.
“So we are the most valuable people to society, we are fully loaded and that’s why they want to leave us out. But they can’t leave us out because we have valuables,” he ended.
Desmond Shaw and Raymond West, the dynamic duo from White Church Street, stood tall as they were crowned champions of the St Catherine-leg of the tournament.
Shaw couldn’t contain his enthusiasm post-victory, expressing heartfelt appreciation for the event’s organisers.
“I think the sponsors have done a really great job putting on this tournament. This is really a good move and I totally support this. I just hope this thing continue and I must big up everyone as this was a great tournament,” Shaw said.
