Bayern Munich host Borussia Dortmund in Bundesliga blockbuster

...Red Devils rumble: Liverpool vs Manchester United in Premier League powerhouse match

Der Klassiker — more than a match for fans in Germany, it’s when Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund go head-to-head, and both teams will renew their rivalry on Saturday. Then on Sunday, Liverpool and Manchester United square off in the biggest game in English football.

Event # 1 – GER – Bayern Munich vs Dortmund – 11:30 AM

When Bayern and Dortmund clash, it’s not just another Bundesliga match, it’s the Der Klassiker. This is a game that consistently delivers drama, lots of goals, and talking points, that keep fans and pundits busy for weeks. With that said, Bayern Munich enter this heavyweight clash in red-hot form, having made a perfect start to their domestic campaign, winning six from six, with their attack at it’s devasting best, as the reigning champions have scored a whopping 25 goals so far while conceding a mere three goals. At home, Bayern has brushed aside all and sundry, scoring three or more goals in every single league match so far, further confirming that their attacking threat is unmatched in Germany at the moment. Bayern’s last match before the international break was a 3-0 away win against Frankfurt.

Dortmund enter this crucial derby unbeaten as well, which makes this blockbuster game an eagerly anticipated encounter. However, they have not been perfect like their host as they have won four and drawn two of their opening six league matches. The Yellow Submarines, Dortmund, sits second in the table behind Bayern Munich and has done well on their travels so far, securing seven points from a possible nine, with two wins and a draw. With that said, this derby rarely disappoints, and current form suggests that won’t change and fans will experience another high-scoring encounter — Bayern’s attacking power has overwhelmed every opponents they have faced, and Dortmund’s recent draws shows slight defensive vulnerability, which could work in Bayern’s favour, enabling them to maintain their perfect start to the season.

Key Stats

• Bayern Munich – Bayern Munich has scored 25 goals in six Bundesliga matches so far and is on a 14-match winning streak, winning nine straight at home.

• Dortmund – Dortmund is unbeaten in the last nine overall matches and is also unbeaten in the last nine away matches in all competitions.

• Both sides – The last four meetings between both sides at Bayern’s home ground have produced over 3.5 goals, with Bayern winning four of the last five meetings, scoring 19 goals during that run.

The betting tip: Bayern win.

Event # EPL – Liverpool vs Man United – 10:30 AM

The biggest match in English football will take place this Sunday when reigning Premier League champions Liverpool hosts rivals Manchester United, and with neither team showing any consistency recently, it should add to an already nervous atmosphere at Anfield. Liverpool is experiencing one of their worst patches of form in recent times, suffering three straight defeats on the bounce and it now appears that they are in a crisis. Having won five straight games to start the season, Liverpool has struggled of late, losing to late 2-1 defeats in the league, allowing their nearest rivals Arsenal to leapfrog them atop the standing. The Red’s will be aiming to seize upon Manchester United’s inconsistent form to get back to winning ways, particularly United’s dismal away record at Anfield. Indeed, the last time Manchester United won at Anfield was in 2016, when Wayne Rooney scored the only goal of the game. Since that win, Man United have suffered at the hands of Liverpool with some embarrassing results, with the 7-0 mauling two seasons ago still fresh in their minds.

Manchester United, on the other hand, eased some of the pressure on Coach Ruben Amorim with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Sunderland just before the international break, and will be aiming to maintain that run with a win on enemy territory. However, Manchester United’s away form has been nothing short of dreadful. The “Red Devils” are winless in their four away games in all competitions this season, a run that includes a humiliating loss to league two side Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup. And it doesn’t get any better in the Premier League, as Man United hasn’t picked up a single away win since March, in a victory over Leicester City. Since then, it’s been six defeats and two draws. More worryingly their record at Anfield is equally bleak, as they have failed to win their in their last nine visits, a run dating back to 2016.

Key Stats

• Liverpool – Liverpool has won three straight home matches in the Premier League and seven home matches in a row, in all competitions.

• Man United – A year ago, Manchester United was number 14 in the table with eight points, now they are number 10 with 10 points. Ahead of this match, Man United has lost three away matches in a row.

• Both sides – Liverpool is unbeaten in the last 12 home matches and against Manchester United in the last 10 home matches, in all competitions.

The betting tip: Liverpool win.
