Larris Allen reaches 500th career win in Canada

Jamaican jockey Larris Allen’s career continues to gallop ahead, reaching a significant milestone with his 500th win on the international racing circuit on Monday, October 13, 2025.
The achievement came at Lethbride racetrack in Canada, where Allen rode Pole to Pole, trained by Lyle Magnuson, to victory in the first race.
The six-furlong Allowance contest was more of a procession for Pole to Pole, who made one decisive move and cruised to the finish line, securing a convincing 4 ¼ lengths win in 1:10.1. With this milestone, Allen, who began riding in North American in 2028, cemented his reputation as a top jockey on the international circuit.
After reaching this milestone Allen continued to showcase his exceptional skill, riding three more winners to cap off an extraordinary performance.
In the second race, Allen piloted Jacrodra’s, also trained by Magnuson, to victory in the six-furlong Allowance race.
Jacrodra’s made a decisive move to take the lead, crossing the finish line 1 ¼ lengths ahead of the runner-up in 1:09.2.
Allen’s winning streak continued in the fifth race, where he rode I Will Stand, trained by Jim Depew, to a commanding 2 ¼ lengths win over seven furlongs. The final time was 1:25.2.
The pièce de résistance came in the seventh race, the CAN$10,900 Farewell Stakes. Allen partnered with Chicle Sparks, trained by Monkumar Mohindee, to deliver a stunning performance. Chicle Sparks romped home to win the seven-furlong race by an impressive 5 ¼ lengths, finishing in 1:25.0.
Allen’s career stats now reads 503 wins, 353 seconds, and 371 thirds from 1,949 mounts with Stakes earnings of CAN$1,867,505.
Meanwhile, fellow Jamaican jockey Oshane Nugent has been making a name for himself on the international racing circuit this year. So far Nugent has secured seven wins, seven second-place finishes, and three third-place finishes, earning CAN$38,022 in Stakes earnings.
Nugent’s latest win came on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Lethbridge, where he piloted Wocka Wocka, trained by Floyd Buffalo, to victory in the CAN$13,050 Amote Open Derby. Wocka Wocka dominated the seven-furlong race, crossing the finish line 6 ¾ lengths ahead of Reboso (Tevin Foster) and Tapologist (Ryan Nelson) with a time of 1:27.2.
