Mamma Mia destroys rivals in I’msatisfied Trophy feature
SHE’S a proven Classic winner, a mare with a reputation for speed and a knack for rising to the occasion when least expected.
Now five years old, Mamma Mia reaffirmed her class and competitive spirit with a winning performance on Saturday, October 11, 2025 in athe $1.4 million I’msatisfied Trophy, an Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and up over six furlongs.
The daughter of Soul Warrior out of Princess Geeta, trained by Jason DaCosta and partnered by jockey Jerome Innis, broke evenly with the field. Early pace duties fell to Money Market, guided by Dane Dawkins for trainer Gary Subratie, while the well-fancied, American-bred Unspun (Reyan Lewis) tracked closely behind.
Innis kept Mamma Mia poised until the halfway mark then made a decisive move on the outside. She surged to the front entering the stretch, holding a length and a half advantage. A brief challenge from Money Market was quickly repelled as Mamma Mia found extra, pulling away to score by 3½ lengths. The clock stopped at 1:12.2, with splits of 23.2 and 47.1.
Initially, Money Market was placed at second and Unspun third, but a stewards’ inquiry altered the outcome. Money Market was disqualified for intimidation and interference, elevating Unspun to second and Champion Bubbler to third. Money Market was completely taken out of the race.
This latest triumph marked Mamma Mia’s tenth win from 33 starts, pushing her career earnings past the $16-million mark.
Mamma Mia’s blend of tactical speed and resilience continues to shine. Her ability to respond under pressure and finish with authority confirms her status as one of the most durable mares in training.
