Supernatural Power to return to winning ways in The Viceroy Trophy feature
WITH her strong performance in the recent Gold Cup, finishing fourth by just a length and a quarter behind winner Legacy Isle, Supernatural Power is expected to lead home rivals in this afternoon’s $1.4-million The Viceroy Trophy feature race at Caymanas Park.
The Philip Feanny-conditioned, three-year-old, American-bred grey filly Supernatural Power has shown her talent, winning five of her eight starts. Since her Gold Cup run Supernatural Power has worked fairly well coming into this race. She galloped two furlongs (400m) on the round course on October 16 in 25.3 seconds, suggesting that she is in good spirits.
With Panamanian Dick Cardenas in the saddle again, and sporting a visor that she’s won all her races with, Supernatural Power looks set to make a strong bid for victory.
The Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward over one mile (1,600m) is positioned as the seventh event on the 10-race card with a post time of 3:20 pm. First race is scheduled for 11:35 am.
Supernatural Power seems like the favourite to win but horse racing is always unpredictable. Tiz Tok, trained by Anthony “Baba” Nunes, could be a dark horse if Supernatural Power falters. Having finished fifth in the Gold Cup,
Tiz Tok has some ground to make up but he could still pull off an upset if Supernatural Power doesn’t perform at her best. The race is anyone’s game until it’s run.
The remaining competitors — Mamma Mia, Tigeramedat, Major Danger, and Inspire Force — are only entered to make sure that the race is run.
