Portmore rally to beat Harbour View in JPL
Portmore United took over sole possession of second place in the Jamaica Premier League after coming from behind to beat Harbour View 4-1 in their first round game played at Waterhouse on Monday.
The win saw Portmore improve to 18 points, four behind leaders Montego Bay United.
In the second game of the double header, 10-man Tivoli Gardens beat Arnett Gardens 2-1 to break into the top six for the first time all season, on 12 points.
Trayvone Reid gave Harbour View the lead in the 27th minute with his third goal of the season but Portmore levelled the scores eight minutes later.
Portmore took over the lead when Marques Reid scored in the 62nd minute and then added two more goals late in the game to confirm the win. Substitutes Ramone Howell made it 3-1 in the 88th minute and Orlando Russell scored the fourth goal in the 90th minute.
Tivoli Gardens snapped a three-game winless run against Arnett Gardens, winning back-to-back games for the first time this season.
Denville Watson gave Tivoli the lead when he scored in time added at the end of the first half but Shai Smith equalised in the 53rd minute.
Tivoli were reduced to 10 players in the 71st minute when Anthony Nelson was sent off, but his teammates rallied.
Kimarley Smith, who came into the game in the 72nd minute, beat Arnett goalkeeper Anthony Bennett with a long range shot in the first minute of time added at the end of the second half to clinch the victory.
