Chronixx earns third top 10 on Billboard with Exile
Reggae artiste Chronixx collects his third top 10 entry on this week’s Billboard Reggae Albums chart with the #5 debut of Exile.
The 17-track set, released via Forever Living Originals on October 10, also debuts at #15 on the UK Official Download Albums chart.
Some of the poignant tracks from Exile include Pain in Your Heart, Survivor, Genesis and Family First.
Chronixx’s 2014 EP Dread & Terrible soared to #1, so too 2017’s Chronologym which was nominated for a Best Reggae Album Grammy Award. It lost out to Damian Marley’s Stony Hill.
Still on this week’s Billboard Reggae Albums chart, Bob Marley and the Wailers continued to dominate the #1 spot as
Legend clocks 301 non-consecutive weeks in pole position.
Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection by Shaggy stays firm at #2, with World on Fire by Stick Figure and Dutty Rock by Sean Paul at #3 and #4.
Stick Figure has back-to-back entries with Wisdom and Set in Stone at #6 and #7, while Damian Marley’s Grammy-winning Welcome to Jamrock inching up to #8.
Greatest Hits by UB40 tumbles to #9 and Exodus by Bob Marley and the Wailers remains at #10.
Global hit Shake it to the Max (Fly) remix by Moliy, Silent Addy, Skillibeng, and Shenseea continues to lead the pack at the top of Billboard’s US Afrobeats Songs chart. Meanwhile, Getting Paid by Sarz, Asaka, Wizkid, and Skillibeng backtracks from #7 to #9 in its third week on the chart.
Incidentally, Getting Paid rises to #2 on the Turntable Top 100 chart in Nigeria.
Over on Billboard’s Rhythmic Airplay chart, You Remind Me by DJ Khaled featuring Vybz Kartel, Buju Banton, Bounty Killer, Mavado, RorystoneLove, and Kaylan Arnold, moves up from its #33 debut last week to #27.
Ginger by Sean Paul peaked at #14 and in its 14th week on the chart, it dips from #22 to #38. However, PBT by Travis Scott, Tyla, and Vybz Kartel inches up from #13 to #12 in its 11th week.
Mariah Carey’s Sugar Sweet featuring Shenseea and Kehlani is on its way down as it flips from #26 to #29 on R&B/Hip Hop Airplay, while faring better on Mainstream R&B/Hip Hop stepping down from #18 to #21 in its 11th week on the chart.
There’s a new #1 song on the Rebel Vibez Top Ten Canadian Reggae chart, Kingston-born Jurney Star, whose real name is Joanna Sterling, takes over with Ready or Not.
So Long by Neto Yuth featuring Anthony B is #2, while Evil Alters by Glen Washington is #3. Feels Like a Movie by Celena inches into the #4 spot, while Wheel and Come Again by SkyStar slips to #5.
Insecurity by Johnson Code, produced by St Elizabeth-based Symphony B Records, debuts at #10.
Over on the New York Reggae chart, Spread Love by Singer Irie takes over the #1 spot, while Ride Cowboy Ride by Wes Rok inches up to #3. I’ll Be Your Friend by Akustix moves from #25 to #21.
The new chart entries are All Over the World by Lila Ike and Protoje (#27) and Road Runner by Yeza at #30.
Moving now to the South Florida Reggae chart, Hopeton Lindo and Marcia Griffiths’s cover of the R&B standard A House is Not a Home spends a third week in the #1 spot, while Sherell Rosegreen’s updating of Come Jesus Come flies from #8 to #5.
Holding On by Hezron steps up from #22 to #19, while We Need Love by Johnny Osbourne and Tarrus Riley (#23), and
Who’s Loving You by Kevoy Clarke (#24) are the new entries.
