#EyeOnMelissa: Sangster International Airport ‘remains open under normal operations’
ST JAMES, Jamaica — MBJ Airports Limited (MBJ), operators of the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, says the facility remains open under normal operations at this time as Jamaica prepares for Tropical Storm Melissa.
The island in now under a tropical storm warning and hurricane watch.
In a release on Thursday, MBJ said based on the bulletin released by the Meteorological Service of Jamaica earlier at 8:00 am, which details the predicted path of Tropical Storm Melissa, the airport remains open and is presently operating normally.
It says it continues to closely monitor the projected path of Tropical Storm Melissa and its potential effect on the airport and airline operations.
“The safety and well-being of our passengers and staff remain our top priority. Passengers are urged to contact their airline for the latest flight information and to make changes to their reservations prior to making their way to the airport,” the release stated.
