450 toasts album sales
Dancehall artiste 450 says, despite the global decline in album sales, his début project, Pieces Of Me, reflects a quality body of work.
“It [the success] is because of the connection with the fans. People feel the music because it’s real. Nowadays, it’s not just about numbers — it’s about impact. The songs hit deep, the visuals were strong, and the team made sure the message reached everywhere,” 450 told the Jamaica Observer’s Splash.
“It’s the honesty and the emotion behind it. 450 didn’t hold back; every song feels genuine. The production, the message, and the delivery all come together to give a sound that’s fresh, but still rooted in authentic dancehall. The project’s Grammy consideration also speaks to the quality and global appeal of the work,” he continued.
The first-week sales were recorded at 996 equivalent album units in the United States. Up to the time of this report the album had sold 6,931 units.
It was released on May 30, 2025.
Meanwhile, 450, whose given name is Tristen Escoffery, explained that the album provided a closer look at his versatility in theme exploration.
“The album is real. It shows every side of 450 — the love, the pain, the growth, and the hustle. It’s his life in melodies and stories that people can relate to,” he said.
Born in Kingston, 450 moved to Clarendon during his adolescent years. He attended Lennon High School in that parish.
According to him, Pieces Of Me borrows from other genres such as reggae and Afrobeat.
While thanking fans and hinting at future music videos and collaborations, the artiste’s aim is to continue building international momentum.
“Just gratitude — big up the fans, the team, the producers, and everyone who believed in the vision. Pieces Of Me is only the beginning,” 450 said.
