#EyeOnMelissa: Flow pauses disconnections as Jamaica braces for Melissa
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Telecommunications provider Flow has announced that it will pause all service disconnections and offer extra mobile data to its prepaid customers as Jamaica prepares for the arrival of Tropical Storm Melissa.
“In times like these, connectivity becomes more than convenience — it’s a lifeline,” said Senior Communications Manager Danielle Savory.
“We understand that people rely on us to reach loved ones, access emergency updates and stay informed. That’s why we’re putting people first by keeping customers connected and supported through this period.
In addition, the company is currently doubling the core mobile data of all prepaid customers who activate a seven day or higher unlimited talk, text and social plan, supporting their access to information throughout the storm.
As part of its storm-readiness plan, Flow has also announced that all its retail stores will be closed on Friday in the interest of staff and customer safety. Customers are instead encouraged to manage their accounts and purchase credit online at topupflow.com or via the Topup Flow app.
Flow further advised customers to charge their devices, top up in advance and keep a list of emergency contacts handy.
The company’s local crisis management team has activated its emergency response protocols to ensure network resilience and service continuity. These include site inspections, refuelling of generators and storage units, and additional standby crews across key locations. Approximately 60 per cent of Flow’s cell sites are equipped with backup power systems to maintain connectivity during potential outages.
For emergency reports or service queries, customers may contact Flow at 1-800-804-2994 (residential) or 1-800-744-0222 (business). To report theft or vandalism of Flow’s network assets, persons are urged to call the nearest police station or the company’s emergency operations centre at 876-929-9834 / 876-929-9837 / 876-920-7935.
