#EyeOnMelissa: ITA locations closed to the public on Friday
KINGSTON, Jamaica —The Island Traffic Authority (ITA) says all its examination depots and corporate offices will be closed to the public on Friday, October 24, due to the tropical storm warning and hurricane watch currently in effect for Jamaica.
“This precautionary measure is intended to allow the authority to carry out preparatory work at all facilities and for staff to make personal preparations. The ITA continues to monitor the storm’s progress and remains committed to prioritising the well-being of its staff and the public,” the authority said in a statement on Friday.
The ITA said updates regarding the reopening and resumption of services will be shared with the public as soon as they become available.
Members of the public with queries or concerns are being encouraged to contact the ITA via social media or by email at info@ita.gov.jm, where representatives will be available to assist.
The authority further urged motorists to exercise caution during heavy rain and high winds and avoid non-essential travel, reduce speed, maintain safe travel distances, and check vehicles before leaving.
Pedestrians are also being advised to avoid walking through flooded areas or along roadways with fast-moving water, as drains and manholes may be obscured.
