#EyeOnMelissa: Non-essential gov’t offices to close at 2:00 pm
KINGSTON, Jamaica — All non-essential government offices are set to be closed at 2:00 pm on Friday due to the potential impact of Tropical Storm Melissa on the island.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), in a media statement on Friday, essential services will remain operational and available to the public.
“Based on the 5:00 am bulletin from the Meteorological Service of Jamaica, Tropical Storm Melissa was stationary overnight. Nonetheless, a tropical storm warning has been maintained. Further updates will be provided throughout the course of the day,” the OPM said.
Jamaicans are also being encouraged to stay informed using official sources.
