Spragga releases first album in six years
Spragga Benz is ushering in a return to the music scene with the release of his first album in six years. Titled Endeavors, the entertainer says the project holds a special place in his heart as it features the last recording of the late Cocoa Tea.
“It’s one of those albums that holds a lot of meaning for me. One of the main features of the project is a song with Cocoa Tea, and it’s one of the last songs he performed,” Spragga Benz shared. “We did that from the hospital, because Cocoa insisted that it needed to go out and be heard. It’s called Shoot Down That Drone, and it’s a highlight on the album, so everybody need fi check it out.”
He hopes the track will serve as a timeless tribute to one of reggae’s most iconic voices.
Endeavors features 13 tracks and was produced by Red Square Productions and LMR PRO Productions.
Sizzla Kalonji, Tarrus Riley, and Briggy Benz are also featured on the album.
Recorded over an intense three-day session of non-stop work, the album debuted at #1 on the iTunes Reggae album chart.
Speaking to the Jamaica Observer following his performance at Sizzla’s Rise to the Occasion tribute concert on Sunday, the artiste also honoured Sizzla.
“It’s a great pleasure for me to be here to celebrate with him because from the first song I hear from Sizzla it sparked a curiosity in me and a thing weh make me see say is a man weh a think different from me and me did done a think different from everybody else. When mi hear No White God mi haffi listen to it carefully, and from dem time deh mi a pree him,” Spragga Benz said. “Fi see say 30 years later him sing hit songs fi the whole 30 years, I love that. It’s a joy to even go on stage and sing some a di songs dem from him weh mi love so much.”
Spragga Benz, known for classics like She Nuh Ready Yet, Tiny Tot, Dolly House, and Things A Gwaan.
