Supernatural Power shines in the The Viceroy Trophy, eyes Mouttet Mile
Philip Feanny’s talented three-year-old American-bred grey filly, Supernatural Power (Cross Traffic – Urquia), has set her sights firmly on December’s Mouttet Mile after an impressive win in the The Viceroy Trophy on Monday, October 20, 2025.
Ridden by Panamanian jockey Dick Cardenas, Supernatural Power dominated the Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward, winning by a comfortable margin of two lengths over one mile (1,600m). Supernatural Power clocked a fast time of 1:36.2 (23.4 x 46.2 x 1:11.1 x 1:23.3).
Feanny expressed satisfaction with the win, highlighting its importance as a prep for the Mouttet Mile.
“Well, this was a nice race. It’s a prep towards the major objective which is the Mouttet Mile,” Feanny said.
“Unfortunately, the prep was the recent Gold Cup and she didn’t win that, and so we had to find another prep and so this is her final race before the Mouttet Mile.”
Breaking smoothly from the gates with the addition of the visor, Cardenas wisely held his mount back, allowing Mamma Mia (Jerome Innis) and Major Danger (Dane Dawkins), a stablemate of Supernatural Power, to go by and set the early pace.
As the field navigated the backstretch, Supernatural Power settled into a comfortable rhythm, maintaining her gallop while awaiting the perfect moment to strike. That moment arrived as she approached the half-mile (800m) turn where she began to surge forward, effortlessly gliding past her rivals.
Tiz Tok, ridden by Raddesh Roman, emerged as a formidable challenger, slipping into second place as Supernatural Power took the lead. But when Tiz Tok mounted a fierce challenge in the deep stretch Supernatural Power responded gallantly to Cardenas’s urgings, pulling away to secure a convincing victory. Tiz Tok finished second, some 19¾ lengths in front of
Major Danger who finished in third place.
