Topmann says NBA
Popular dancehall artiste Topmann has reinforced his place in the industry with the track
NBA (Never Broke Again).
According to the entertainer, the September release — which also has an accompanying music video shot by JV Cinematic in Montego Bay — is a resilience anthem.
“It comes after a period when I wasn’t very active, partly because I had to deal with personal loss [his father passed away]. In Never Broke Again, I am letting people know that I’m back stronger, more focused, and motivated than ever,” he told the Jamaica Observer’s Splash, adding, “[It is about] overcoming hardships and staying grounded. It speaks to the idea of not being ‘broke’ again; not just in the financial sense, but emotionally, and in terms of spirit. It’s about making sure past challenges don’t break you, and committing to a lifestyle of growth.”
The song was produced by Island Weather Entertainment and Lone Island Production.
Meanwhile, the entertainer, whose given name is Jamario Hines, added that the song is geared towards empowering his audience.
“The song is aspirational; it motivates the youth and people facing obstacles. It’s saying: Despite setbacks, loss, times of struggle, you can rise. Use pain as fuel. Don’t settle. Authenticity and doing your own thing [are key]. I am emphasising that this return is me being real; I’m not pretending, doing things for clout, or following trends. It’s about my story, my voice, and the truth of where I come from,” he said.
Topmann is known for other releases such as Curve Body produced by Leemilla Productions, Can’t Get Me Down by GodSpeedd Records, as well as Cash Ready and Gyal Code.
