#EyeOnMelissa: Braeton residents concerned over uncollected garbage ahead of potential flooding
ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Residents of Braeton in Portmore, St Catherine are voicing concerns over the recent lack of garbage collection as Tropical Storm Melissa draws closer.
According to residents, garbage has been left out for pickup for more than a week, but no collection has taken place.
They are now worried that the uncollected trash could clog drains if flooding occurs in the area.
With Melissa forecast to bring heavy rainfall and potentially catastrophic flooding to Jamaica, residents fear that Braeton, part of the Greater Portmore area which local authorities have identified as flood-prone, could be severely affected.
