#EyeOnMelissa: Heavy security presence at Springs Plaza ahead of Hurricane Melissa
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Springs Plaza, Constant Spring Road, was a bevy of preventative security activity, hours ahead of Hurricane Melissa making landfall.
Springs Plaza, a landmark of the Half-Way Tree business community for more than 40 years, housing many household names as tenants, has been blanketed by dozens of armed security personnel to deter vandalism and looting.
Jason McKay, chief executive officer, McKay Security Limited, reminded that looting is a serious crime.
“The security industry plays a vital support role to the security forces during natural disasters of the kind expected during and after the passage of Hurricane Melissa ” McKay pointed out.
“Similar to the security forces, the security industry is well resourced and armed. It would be a bad idea to attempt looting at any location manned by armed McKay Security officers,” he warned.
