#EyeOnMelissa: 77% of JPS customers without electricity
Over 530,000 residents are without electricity in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, according to Minister of Local Government Desmond McKenzie.
The minister says the number represents just over 77 per cent of JPS customers
He made the revelation during a press briefing with the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management as the hurricane moved away from the island Tuesday evening.
McKenzie said work is underway, weather permitting, to restore connectivity to critical infrastructure like hospitals and water pumping stations.
