7Air rallies partners in relief aid effort
CARGO airline 7Air on Tuesday announced a strategic partnership with five entities, as well as American and Jamaican Government officials, to provide critical humanitarian aid and relief operations to Jamaica in wake of Hurricane Melissa’s devastating effect on the island.
The Miami-based airline, which flies to destinations in the Caribbean and Central America, said it is mobilising rapid-response logistics to ensure the immediate delivery of essential supplies, equipment, and personnel to affected regions across the island.
The mobilisation, it said, is being done in direct coordination with the Office of Congressman Brian Mast, who oversees the US Office of Foreign Affairs, and through continuous contact with the secretary to Jamaica’s Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness.
The other entities in the partnership are 25 United Foundation, Helpful Harrison, Armellini Logistics, Cheney Brothers Inc, and the Fox Foundation.
For 25 United, a humanitarian organisation led by Stephen Leighton, it will be leading a coordinated relief mission to support the communities impacted by Hurricane Melissa.
The airline also said that Harrison Weinberg of Helpful Harrison will play an instrumental role in supporting the launch of relief operations in Martin County, while Cheney Brothers Inc has opened its facilities to 25 United Foundation, enabling teams to prepare, weigh, and load pallets of essential goods, including food, water, and medical supplies.
Once the relief shipments are ready, Armellini Express Lines of Palm City will oversee the transport of all donated items to Miami, where they will be staged for airlift operations to affected areas.
Further strengthening the regional response, Fox Foundation of The Bahamas has pledged its partnership to expand airlift capacity, medical transport, and resource distribution throughout the impacted zones.
“Together, these organisations exemplify the power of collaboration and community in times of crisis, uniting efforts to deliver life-saving assistance swiftly and efficiently,” 7Air said in the release.
7Air has pledged to move at least 50,000 pounds of humanitarian aid and relief cargo, aboard its Boeing 737-800 freighter, directly into Kingston, Jamaica.
“At 7Air our mission goes far beyond aviation. It’s about service without limits,” the release quotes CEO Michael Mendez. “We are committed to providing endless flights, as many as needed, to and from Jamaica to ensure aid reaches those who need it most. We are honoured to be the first in line on the ground in Jamaica, standing ready to assist our Caribbean neighbours during this critical time.”
“This joint initiative… demonstrates a unified commitment to regional solidarity and rapid humanitarian response in the face of unprecedented challenges,” the airline added.
