Clean up begins in Montego Bay
ST JAMES, Jamaica — Clean-up work has started in St James as the country begins its recovery from the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa.
Since the early hours of Wednesday morning, firefighters have been deployed and have managed to provide access to several roads in the city.
Further to that, teams from the St James Municipal Corporation have been carrying out similar work across several roads. This Montego Bay has allowed some level of vehicular traffic as individuals try to carry out their cleaning exercises.
In Catherine Hall and Westgreen, the swollen Pye River caused the area to be inundated with water, leaving copious amounts of mud in a number of homes.
Communities exposed to the coastline like Mango Walk seem to be majorly affected as several houses were seen without roofs in the area.
There were also downed trees, solar panels and other things that have led to a large-scale cleaning effort now underway in the western city
