‘It’s so sad’: St Elizabeth businessman says Hurricane Melissa worst he has seen
ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — A business operator in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth, who has been in Jamaica for almost 20 years, says Hurricane Melissa is the worst storm he has ever experienced on the island.
The man, who identified himself as Mr Lee, operates a supermarket in the parish. He told Observer Online that he was on the property during the hurricane and that while he had minor impact, other places were severely damaged.
“I’ve been in Jamaica for almost 20 years, that was the first, a hurricane I never expect. It’s the worse. It’s so sad,” Mr Lee said.
“We only get some likkle water and did some cleaning but I see another place get a lot of losses. I call my staff dem, I ensure everyone is safe but I think we will be getting better,” he added.
