Optimum Jamaica helping families to stay connected across US and Jamaica

KINGSTON, Jamaica — As Jamaica continues to recover from the devastating impacts of Hurricane Melissa, Optimum Jamaica is offering free calls and texts from the United States (US) to Jamaica through November 30, 2025, exclusively for Optimum Phone and Optimum Mobile customers.

This initiative ensures that no matter how many miles apart loved ones may be, they can stay connected, share updates and offer comfort during this difficult time.

“We understand the emotional toll of being far from home during a crisis,” said Leon Davis, senior director, site general manager. “Our mission has always been to connect people, not just through technology, but through compassion. This is our way of helping families feel a little closer, even from thousands of miles away.”

The offer comes as part of Optimum’s broader commitment to community resilience and recovery, ensuring that communication barriers are removed when they matter most.

Jamaicans across the diaspora can now reach their loved ones freely to check in, share reassurance and lend support as the nation rebuilds.

“Optimum stands with Jamaica, through this gesture we hope to ease the burden of separation and remind our customers that staying connected is part of healing together,” said Jevaughn Gordon, communications manager.

The company has also been coordinating internal support efforts, including staff welfare checks and communication assistance.
