Alford Brown scores seventh win of the season with Earmark Blitz
Trainer Alford Brown celebrated his seventh win of the season when his charge Earmark Blitz dominated the $1.05-million Maiden Condition Race for native-bred three-year-olds over 7 ½ furlongs (1,500m) on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
Ridden by current champion and leading jockey Raddesh “Sneaky Fox” Roman, Earmark Blitz won impressively by 7 ¼ lengths. The three-year-old bay colt won in a time of 1:37.2 (25.0 x 49.3 x 1:16.4 x 1:30.2).
Brown expressed his satisfaction with the win.
“It has been a rough season, but to be honest, if you don’t have the materials to work with, you can’t get the job done properly,” he told the Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.
He added that he’s been working hard with some of his horses, and when they come together, they can achieve success.
Brown also shared his excitement about a promising two-year-old in his stable, looking forward to the upcoming season.
“I have a two-year-old that I have high hopes for and so I am looking forward to see how the two-year-old season goes and into next year,” Brown added.
Earmark Blitz (Wannabeaplayer – Venusinbluejeans) shot to the front at the off and held the lead ahead of Shan Shan (Shaheem Gordon), Secret Sensation (Phillip Parchment), and Smoking Thom (Theophilus Jackson).
Earmark Blitz maintained his steady gallop down the backstretch until going into the half-mile turn when he upped the tempo and increased his lead ahead of the competition. He turned for home in command and powered home to a convincing win, crossing the finish line well clear of Kusmi (Youville Pinnock) and Friends Connection (Sadiki Blake), who finished second and third, respectively.
“This was my second run with him [Earmark Blitz] since I got him. The first run, the race was a bit short for him and so I used that race as a pointer. Unfortunately, after that race he got ill and I had to take some time and get him back right. I brought him back today and he delivered,” Brown said.
“I did a couple of changes with him. The most important thing was that I got his nutrition programme up and so getting him healthy was priority. I trained him accordingly and you saw the results. I saw some improvement and so I will work off this win and see what’s down the road,” he added.
When asked about if he had any prospects for the upcoming Mouttet Mile in December, Brown said: “We are trying to get
Unspun qualify for the Mouttet Mile, and if he do qualify, watch out.”
