KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Island Traffic Authority (ITA) has announced that operations at several of its service hubs, which were suspended following the passage of Hurricane Melissa, will resume on a phased basis starting Monday.

According to the ITA, after conducting thorough assessments, services will restart at four key locations:

• Swallowfield Service Hub – Motor vehicle inspection services only
• Spanish Town Road Service Hub – Motor vehicle inspection and driver’s licence/learner’s permit services
• Harbour View Service Hub and Weigh Station – Motor vehicle inspection and driver’s licence/learner’s permit services
• May Pen Service Hub – Motor vehicle inspection and driver’s licence/learner’s permit services

In a media release issued Friday morning, the ITA said all other service hubs will gradually reopen as restoration work continues across the island.

“The hurricane resulted in significant disruptions to critical utilities and infrastructure, and the ITA is working closely with relevant agencies to ensure the safe and timely resumption of services across the island,” the statement read.
