Chris Martin, Masicka and Nigy Boy to perform at US$1m fundraising concert series
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Popular Jamaican artistes Christopher Martin, Masicka and Nigy Boy are among the first confirmed performers for the upcoming “I Love Jamaica” fundraising concert series, announced by Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange.
The concert series has an initial target of US$1 million to support national recovery and relief efforts following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa.
Speaking at a special media briefing on Monday, Grange shared that the Government of Jamaica, through her ministry, will collaborate with both local and international members of the entertainment industry to stage a series of concerts in Jamaica and overseas.
“In Kingston, we initially announced a concert to be staged in the [National] Stadium car park and Mas Camp, but we’re now doing a virtual concert on Telethon, on Sunday, November 16, 3:30 pm to 10:30 pm and this will be broadcast out of the CPTC studios,” she said.

Grange confirmed that the Telethon lineup will feature Chris Martin, Masicka and Nigy Boy, among other Jamaican entertainers.
The minister also highlighted the strong response from artistes both locally and abroad.
“A number of Jamaican artistes and artistes based overseas, non-Jamaicans, have reached out to us and they are working on details of their participation in live concerts in the diaspora or doing endorsement drops to motivate and encourage Jamaicans,” Grange shared.
She revealed that the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and former cricketer Chris Gayle will also lend their support to the campaign.
“The CPL has been in touch with us and Chris Gayle will be the face of their campaign which will be overseas,” she said.
Minister Grange also shared that former prime ministers will be coming on board.
“We have invited our former prime ministers, PJ Patterson and Bruce Golding, as well as leaders in various sectors to assist with the relief and recovery effort,” she shared.
